Yamaga Bird and Insect Song - Sankachouuka

Japanese:
Yamaga Bird and Insect Song - Sankachouuka
A collection of folk songs from the mid-Edo period. It consists of two volumes. The first volume contains 210 folk songs from the Goki, Tokai, and Tosando regions, while the second volume contains 184 folk songs from other regions. Since it has a preface dated 1771, it is likely to have collected songs from various provinces up to the mid-Edo period. At first, it was believed that the preface added by Ryutei Tanehiko stated that Bon Odori songs from all over the country were collected by imperial decree of Emperor Gomizunoo, but of course it is impossible for folk songs from that time to be collected by imperial decree. The lyrics are generally in the "7-7-7-5" style, which is early modern, and in addition to dance songs, it is thought that celebratory songs and various labor songs are mixed in.
