Uzbek people - Uzbek (English spelling)

Japanese: ウズベク族 - ウズベクぞく(英語表記)Uzbeg
Uzbek people - Uzbek (English spelling)
A Turkic ethnic group living in Western Turkestan. They speak Uzbek, a Turkic language, and believe in Islam (Sunni). In the 13th century, they lived in the Aral Sea and Caspian Sea areas and were subordinate to the Kipchak Khanate. Later, they moved south and in 1500, they captured Bukhara and Samarkand, overthrew the Timurid dynasty, and established the Shaybanid dynasty. They then established the so-called three Uzbek khanates: the Bukhara Khanate (also known as the Uzbek Khanate) with Bukhara as its capital, the Khiva Khanate in the lower reaches of the Amu River, and the Kokand Khanate in the Fergana region. In 1868, the Bukhara Khanate became a protectorate of the Russian Empire, and was destroyed in 1920. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, it separated into the Republic of Uzbekistan and joined the Commonwealth of Independent States. About 90% of Uzbeks live in Uzbekistan, but small numbers also live in the republics of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
