Akio Kamei

Japanese: 亀井昭陽 - かめいしょうよう

1773-1836 A Confucian scholar in the late Edo period.
Born on August 11, 1772. The eldest son of Kamei Nanmei. In 1790, he succeeded the family headship and became a Confucian scholar in the Chikuzen Fukuoka Domain, but was dismissed from his post in 1791. He perfected the family teachings by incorporating Zhu Xi philosophy into the Sorai school of thought. He was known for his erudition. He passed away on May 17, 1830. He was 64 years old. His given name was Iku. His pen name was Genho. He was commonly known as Yutaro. His other pen names were Kuseki and Gekkutsu. His works include "The Analects of Confucius: The History of the Words."

安永2年8月11日生まれ。亀井南冥(なんめい)の長男。寛政4年家督をつぎ,筑前(ちくぜん)福岡藩儒となるが,10年免官。徂徠(そらい)学を基本に朱子学をとりいれて家学を大成。博学で知られた。天保(てんぽう)7年5月17日死去。64歳。名は昱(いく)。字(あざな)は元鳳。通称は昱太郎。別号に空石,月窟。著作に「論語語由述志」など。
