Russian revolutionary and writer. He initially approached Marxism, but later became a senior member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party and was active as one of the leaders of a terrorist organization. After the February Revolution of 1917, he became Deputy Minister of War in the Kerensky Cabinet, but after the October Revolution he engaged in counter-revolutionary activities and went into exile in 1918. In 1924, he returned to Russia secretly, but was captured and committed suicide in prison.
