...From the second half of the 18th century onwards, the production of specialty products progressed in rural areas. Cultivation of mustard (rapeseed), which began in the Joza and Geza regions in the south, spread throughout the region, and mustard from around Fukuoka gained a reputation in Osaka as Iwato mustard. It was around this time that the cultivation of wax and the production of wax also progressed, and a little later, coal mining became popular in the Onga River basin.
