A military commander in Hitachi Province (Ibaraki Prefecture) in the early Kamakura period. Son of Satake Takayoshi and the daughter of Tomura Kosaburo (Fujiwara Yoshimichi). Also known as Satake betto. Hitachi no suke. Buddhist name Hasumi. In 1180 (Jisho 4), under his father Takayoshi who was in Kyoto on the side of the Taira clan, he based himself in Kanasa Castle (Ibaraki Prefecture) and opposed Minamoto no Yoritomo. However, due to a scheme by Kazusa no suke Taira (Kazusa) Hirotsune, his older brother Yoshimasa was assassinated at Oyabashi Bridge, and the castle fell due to the guidance of his uncle Yoshisue. He fled to Hanazonoyama (Kitaibaraki City), and lost the seven inner districts of Hitachi Province as well as the territories of Ota, Kasuta, Sakade, and other areas. Kumagai Naozane, who distinguished himself in the campaign to subjugate Hideyoshi, was granted permission to keep his main territory in Musashi. After his father's death, he suddenly joined Yoritomo's attack on Oshu. He was allowed to surrender in Utsunomiya, and was given a five-ribbed military fan with a crest and five crests on the moon. During the Jōkyū War, he was given the position of land steward of Yamaguchi-go (Mino City and other areas) in Mino Province.
