Sajama Mountain (English spelling)

Japanese: サハマ[山](英語表記)Nevado Sajama
Sajama Mountain (English spelling)
An extinct volcano in the Western Andes of Bolivia. At 6,520 meters above sea level, it is the highest peak in the Western Andes of the country. The summit is covered with a glacier. The snow line is about 6,000 meters above sea level. When viewed from a distance, it is a well-formed stratovolcano with a relative height of 2,300 meters, which makes it suitable for being called the Bolivian Fuji, but most of the mountain is carved into a fairly deep U-shaped valley. The cirque bottom is found at an altitude of 4,700 to 4,800 meters. It belongs to Oruro Department, but is about 200 km west of the mining city of Oruro. At the western foot of the mountain is the village of the same name, Sajama (population about 1,000).
