[Born] Meiwa 1 (1764), Edo [Died] June 3, 1839 (Tenpo 10). Edo A Japanese mathematician in the late Edo period. Commonly known as Teiyachiro, his pen name was Keiso, and his pen name was Itose. He became a disciple of Yasujima Naoen, and received the full transmission of the Seki school. Unlike Seki Takakazu, Matsunaga Ryosuke, Yamaji Nushiju, and Yasujima, who were of samurai origin, he was of townsman origin and attained the rank of 5th transmission of the Seki school lineage. He opened a school in Kusaka-kubo, Azabu, and produced an unprecedented number of excellent mathematicians from his school. Wada Yasushi, Uchida Gokan, Hasegawa Hiroshi, Shiraishi Nagatada, Mikayu Yasumoto, Ohara Toshiaki, and Koide Kanemasa were all important mathematicians in the final period of Japanese mathematics.
