近代インドにおけるヒンドゥー改革運動団体の一つ。西欧列強の圧力とキリスト教などの宗教思想の流入にたいする危機感から,19世紀には各種の復古主義的な宗教改革運動がインドの大都市を中心に展開した。アーリヤ・サマージ(アーリヤ協会)もその一翼を担ったものであり,1875年,ダヤーナンダ・サラスバティーの提唱でボンベイに設立され,ボンベイ周辺だけでなくパンジャーブ州,ウッタル・プラデーシュ州にもとくに大きな影響を及ぼした。
