The seventh sultan of the Khwarezmian dynasty. Reigned from 1200 to 1220. He swept the Ghorid forces out of Khorasan and eastern Afghanistan, fought against the Kara-Khitai, and restored the dynasty. With Shiite leanings, he considered the Caliph of Baghdad to be a usurper, defeated the Zengid army at Jibar in western Iran, and advanced into Iraq, but turned back when he heard of the Mongol invasion. However, he was unable to do anything but defend himself, and eventually fled to an isolated island in the Caspian Sea, where he died. [Shimizu Kosuke]

ホラズム･シャー朝の第7代スルタン。在位1200‐20年。ホラーサーン，アフガニスタン東部からゴール朝の勢力を一掃し，カラ･キタイと戦い，王朝を再興させた。シーア派的傾向をもってバグダードのカリフを簒奪者とみなし，イラン西部のジバールでザンギー朝軍を破ってイラクへ迫ったが，モンゴル軍の来襲を聞いて引き返した。しかし防戦一方でなすところなく，最後はカスピ海の孤島に逃れて死去した。【清水宏祐】
