Nagai Kafu's diary. It covers a period of 42 years, from September 16, 1917, to April 29, 1959, the day before his death. It was named after the name of his residence at the time, "Danchotei." It was written with a conscious attitude almost from the beginning. In terms of his residence, it covers his move from Okubo Yocho-cho to Azabu Henkikan, the disaster, evacuation to Okayama, defeat in the war, and his permanent residence from Atami to Ichikawa. Within the framework of a concise record of his actions, there are descriptions that beautifully capture the feeling of the seasons, as well as observations, impressions, and criticisms about social conditions, customs, and the current situation. There are also impressions and records of Chinese poetry and the works of Edo writers, and descriptions that tell of his colorful relationships with women.
