A collection of thin streams

Japanese: 細流抄 - さいりゅうしょう

A commentary on the Tale of Genji from the Muromachi period. It was also called Kineda Kikigaki and Sanjonishi Kasho. It was compiled by Sanjonishi Sanetaka's son Kineda from his lectures on the Tale of Genji. It was compiled at the request of Hatakeyama Yoshifusa and completed in 1528 (Taiei 8). It extracts important words and phrases from all volumes of the Tale of Genji and adds annotations. The title expresses humility in comparison to the Kamakura period commentary Kakaisho, which states that the story is just one of the small streams that flow into a river and sea. 室町時代の源氏物語注釈。《公条（きんえだ）聞書》《三条西家抄》とも呼ばれた。三条西実隆（さねたか）の《源氏物語》の講釈を，その子公条がまとめたもの。畠山義総の求めに応じて編まれ，1528年(大永8)に成る。《源氏物語》全巻にわたって重要な語句を抜き出し，注釈を加える。書名は，鎌倉時代の注釈書《河海抄（かかいしよう）》に対し，河海に流れ込む細流の一つという謙遜の意をあらわす。【今西祐一郎】
