However, here Amschel was still just one of the many "court Jews" found in the 17th and 18th centuries, especially in German countries, and he was just a recent addition to the group. However, while many of the "court Jews" who were valued for their work collecting taxes for absolute monarchs, lending money for war expenses, and even procuring military supplies fell into decline during the Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution, Amschel rose to great heights during these very times of great change.
