Fisheries conducted on the sea surface. A term for inland fisheries. Often used to exclude shallow-sea aquaculture. Fisheries conducted in Lake Hamana, Lake Nakaumi, Lake Saroma, and other areas where seawater flows into are also included in marine fisheries. In addition, Kumihama Bay and Yosa Bay have been publicly designated as lakes and marshes (inland waters) in terms of fishery adjustment and protection, even though they are seawater under the Fisheries Law.
