Japanese: 財政規模 - ざいせいきぼ

It refers to the absolute size of financial activity, or the relative size of financial activity within economic activity. There are various indicators for looking at financial scale. The easiest to understand would be the total amount of the national general account budget (or its ratio to gross domestic product). However, financial activities are also carried out by special accounts, government-related agencies, local governments, etc. Therefore, to look at financial scale in a broad sense, it is necessary to consider these as well. However, there are complex flows of funds between these, so simply adding them up will result in overlaps.

財政活動の絶対的な大きさ，あるいは経済活動のなかでの財政活動の相対的な大きさをいう。財政規模をみるには，さまざまな指標がありうる。最もわかりやすいのは，国の一般会計予算の総額(あるいは，その対国民総生産比)であろう。しかし，財政活動は，特別会計や政府関係機関，あるいは地方公共団体などによっても営まれている。そこで，広義の財政規模をみるには，これらをも含めて考える必要がある。しかし，これらの間には複雑な資金の流れがあるので，単純に加えると重複が生ずる。
