The 1930s was a time when various doubts were raised about the assumptions of economics. In this context, the Economic Research Group, established at Oxford University, conducted a survey of the actual state of affairs, asking the question, "Are prices in each market elastic?" In addition to surveys of interest rates and exchange rates, with regard to industrial organization, a survey of corporate behavior was conducted, led by P. W. Andrews, to examine whether the rule of behavior, maximizing profits based on marginal cost, was empirically valid. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
