This refers to a system (low-temperature distribution system) that distributes fresh foods, frozen foods, medicines, and other products whose quality is easily affected by external temperatures at low temperatures from production to consumption. As early as 2500 BC, Egypt began to preserve goods by utilizing the evaporation of water, but the history of the cold chain, which combines low-temperature storage and transportation functions, is relatively new, dating back to the completion of refrigeration machines at the end of the 19th century. Beef from Australia was shipped to Europe by refrigerated transport ships, and in the United States, fruits and vegetables from the West Coast were shipped at low temperatures to the East Coast.
