Komochikanahebi (viviparous lizard)

Japanese: コモチカナヘビ - こもちかなへび（英語表記）viviparous lizard

A lizard of the order Squamata, class Reptilia, family Lacertidae. It is widely distributed from central Europe to Siberia and northern Hokkaido. It is 18 cm long and is ovoviviparous, giving birth to 4-10 young between July and September, but in the Pyrenees region of southern Europe it lays eggs.

Japanese:

爬虫(はちゅう)綱有鱗(ゆうりん)目カナヘビ科のトカゲ。ヨーロッパ中部からシベリア、北海道北部に広く分布する。全長18センチメートル、卵胎生で7～9月ごろ4～10匹の子を産むが、ヨーロッパ南部のピレネー地方では卵で産む。
