A town in the northeastern part of Tochigi Prefecture, in Nasu County, occupying Mt. Nasu and its southeastern foothills. It is home to the Nasu Onsen hot spring resort area. The main settlement, Kurodahara, is a settlement in front of the Tohoku Main Line station. Rice and livestock farming are thriving here. It produces Ashino stone, which is used for stone paving and stone carvings. The Tohoku Expressway runs through the town. The town sustained damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 372.34 km2 .
