Japanese: キョルオウル物語 - キョルオウルものがたり

A masterpiece of Turkish folk literature with the hero Köroğlu as its protagonist. Based on the leader of a peasant revolt in 17th century Anatolia, it was formed by fusing with the ancient tale motif of "The Revenge of the Blind Son (Köroğlu)." It is composed of narration and song, and is passed down by minstrels (ashk) who play the traditional saz instrument, and is a genre known in the history of Turkish literature as "narrative." It has also been widely passed down beyond the Turkish borders, including in Iran and Azerbaijan.

義賊キョルオウルKöroğluを主人公とするトルコ民衆文学の代表作。17世紀アナトリアの農民反乱指導者を原型とし，〈盲人の子(キョルオウル)の復讐〉という古来の説話モティーフと融合して形成された。語りと歌の部分からなり，民族楽器サーズを演奏する吟遊詩人(アーシュク)によって伝承され，トルコ文学史上〈物語〉と称されるジャンルをなす。トルコ国境を越えてイラン，アゼルバイジャン地方でも広く伝えられている。
