Also known as dew point temperature. When an object cools in the air, the temperature at which dew begins to form on its surface once it has dropped below a certain temperature. This is the temperature at which the water vapor pressure (humidity) of the air at that time is the saturated water vapor pressure. An instrument used to measure dew point is called a dew point meter. There are various types, but the Lambrecht dew point meter is the most representative. A small container containing a volatile liquid such as ether is placed behind a silver-plated mirror surface, and air is pumped in, causing the temperature to drop due to the heat of vaporization of the ether, causing dew to form on the mirror surface, and the temperature at that point is measured with a thermometer. Recently, dew point meters using electronic cooling have become more widely used.

露点温度とも。空気中で物体が冷却していくとき，一定の温度以下になるとその表面に露ができ始める，そのときの温度。そのときの空気の水蒸気圧（湿度）を飽和水蒸気圧とするような温度。露点を測る器械を露点計という。種々のものがあるがランブレヒトの露点計が代表的。銀めっきした鏡面の背後にエーテルなどの揮発性の液を入れた小容器があり，空気を送りこみ，エーテルの気化熱による温度低下で鏡面に露を結ばせ，そのときの温度を温度計で測る。最近では電子冷却を使った露点計が多く使われるようになった。
