A chemical used to produce sound. Some produce explosive and whistling sounds. There are three types of explosives. Aluminum explosives are mixtures mainly of aluminum and potassium chlorate or potassium perchlorate, and have an explosion velocity of 1000-2000 m/s. If the amount of explosive is too small, they will not produce any sound, but are commonly used in the "thunder" effects of fireworks. Red explosives are a mixture of realgar AsS and potassium chlorate, and are a very sensitive chemical. They are mainly used in toy fireworks. Red phosphorus explosives are a mixture of red phosphorus, sulfur, and potassium chlorate.

音を出すために使われる薬剤。爆発音と笛音を出すものがある。爆発音剤には3種類ある。アルミニウム剤はアルミニウムと塩素酸カリウムまたは過塩素酸カリウムを主とする混合物であり，その爆発速度は1000～2000m/sである。あまり薬量が少ないと音を出さなくなるが，一般に花火の〈雷〉に使われている。赤爆剤は鶏冠石AsSと塩素酸カリウムの混合物で，非常に鋭敏な薬剤である。おもに玩具花火に使われている。赤リン剤は赤リン，硫黄と塩素酸カリウムの混合物である。
