Kochihira [town] - Kochinda

Japanese: 東風平[町] - こちんだ

A former town in Shimajiri District, in the southern part of Okinawa Island, Okinawa Prefecture. Blessed with fertile soil made from weathered marl called Jagaru, the area was once used for rice paddies, but has since become a field crop area extending to Itoman City, where sugarcane and vegetables are cultivated. In recent years, the area has been developed into a residential area near Naha City, and the tertiary industry accounts for about 60% of the population. This is the birthplace of Jahana Noboru, a pioneer of the Okinawa Freedom and People's Rights Movement. In January 2006, it was merged with Gushikami Village, Shimajiri District, to become Yaese Town, Shimajiri District. ^{14.79 km2} . 17,636 people (2003).

沖縄県沖縄島南部，島尻郡の旧町。ジャーガルという泥灰岩の風化した肥沃な土壌に恵まれ，かつて水田が開けていたが，糸満市に続く畑作地帯となり，サトウキビ，野菜を栽培。近年は那覇市の近郊住宅地化が進み，第３次産業人口が約６割を占めている。沖縄自由民権運動の先駆者謝花昇の生地。2006年１月，島尻郡具志頭村と合併し町制，島尻郡八重瀬町となる。14.79km²。１万7636人（2003）。
