A former town in Yazu District, eastern Tottori Prefecture. It straddles the Kisaichi River and Hatto River basins. It is the junction of the Inbi Line and Wakasa Railway. It produces a large number of 20th century pears. Kunoji ware is famous. There is the remains of the tower of the abandoned Hajimomoi temple (historic site). In March 2005, it merged with Funaoka Town and Hatto Town in Yazu District to become a town, Yazu Town. 85.53 km2 . Population 10,378 (2003). 鳥取県東部,八頭(やず)郡の旧町。私都(きさいち)川と八東(はっとう)川の流域にまたがる。因美線,若桜(わかさ)鉄道の分岐点。二十世紀ナシを多産。久能寺焼は有名。土師百井(はじももい)廃寺塔跡(史跡)がある。2005年3月八頭郡船岡町,八東町と合併し町制,八頭町となる。85.53km2。1万378人(2003)。
