[raw]? [Died] 1640 Commander of the Portuguese Japanese trading fleet. He fought in the East Indies from the end of the 1610s, and advanced to Macau in 1630. He arrived in Nagasaki as a special envoy to Japan in the same year, and negotiated with Nagasaki magistrate Takenaka Uneme Masashige to explain the sinking of a Japanese ship in Siam. He stayed in Japan for four years and had an audience with Tokugawa Iemitsu in 1634, before returning to Macau. He came to Japan again in 1635 and 1636, and on his third visit he was imprisoned in Dejima with all his crew members, and then returned to Macau with 287 Portuguese-Japanese wives and children who had been exiled.
