Kose Tokutako - Kose no Tokutako

A powerful clan leader from the central region in the 7th century. Also written as Tokuta, Tokuda, Tokuta, or Tokutaiko. In November 643 (the 2nd year of the Emperor Kōgyoku), he attacked Yamashiro no Oe at Ikaruga Palace as Shogun by order of Soga no Iruka. In June 645, during the Isshi Incident when Prince Naka no Oe defeated Soga no Iruka, he was sent by Naka no Oe to persuade Ayanoatai and others who were trying to help Soga no Emishi, and since he succeeded in disarming them, he appears to have been involved in military affairs. In April 649 (the 5th year of the Taika era), he was promoted to the rank of Daimyouji and was appointed as Minister of the Left, succeeding Abe no Uchimaro, who had died the previous month.

7世紀の中央豪族。徳太，徳陀，徳多，徳太古とも表記。643年(皇極2)11月蘇我入鹿の命により，将軍として山背大兄王を斑鳩（いかるが）宮に襲った。645年6月中大兄皇子が蘇我入鹿を討った乙巳（いつし）の変のときには，蘇我蝦夷を助けようとした漢直（あやのあたい）らの説得のために中大兄によって派遣され，武装解除に成功したことからすれば軍事に関係したらしい。649年(大化5)4月大紫の位に昇ると同時に，前月死去した阿倍内麻呂の後をうけ左大臣に就任。
