This is the Chinese equivalent of the Japanese Red Cross Society, with its headquarters called the Red Cross General Association. It was founded in 1904 (the 30th year of the Guangxu era) by Yuan Shikai as the Great Qing Red Cross Society, and was reorganized as the Chinese Red Cross Society on September 8, 1950, after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It is responsible for the health and relief of the people under the guidance of the government's Ministry of Health. When a large number of Japanese who remained in China were repatriated in 1953, it assisted in the implementation of this repatriation under an agreement with three Japanese organizations, including the Japanese Red Cross.
