Mount Tsuyoshi

Japanese:
Mount Tsuyoshi

It is one of the branches of the Taihang Mountains, which extend southwestward from the northern part of Shanxi Province, China. It is also called Yuan Yue, Chang Shan, and Taiheng Shan. It stretches from the Hebei-Shanxi border in the east to central Shanxi Province in the west. Across the valley of the Hutuo River, Wutai Shan rises to the south. Its main peak (Xuanwu Peak) is 2,017 meters above sea level. The Great Wall runs along the ridge to the south, and Yanmen Pass, which lies between them, has been a key transportation point since ancient times. According to an ancient legend, when Emperor Shun toured the country, he was struck by the majesty of this mountain. At the end of the 15th century, it was replaced by Mount Hengshan in Quyang County, Hebei Province, and came to be known as the North Mountain, one of the Five Mountains. There are many scenic spots on the top of the mountain, and on the cliff at the foot of the mountain is the Hanging Temple, which dates back to the Northern Wei period.
