Arirang - Arirang

Japanese:
Arirang - Arirang

Korean folk song. When Daewon-gun planned the reconstruction of Gyeongbokgung Palace at the end of the Yi Dynasty (1860s), it was sung by workers conscripted from all over the province, and later spread with the encouragement of King Yi Tae. The opening 3/4 tune "Arirang Arirang Arariyo" is also famous in Japan. Originally, there were various types of songs such as Jindo Arirang and Miryang Arirang, and many lyrics are sung improvisationally, making it rich in regional color. Many of the songs deal with unrequited love, but they also incorporate dissatisfaction with the state of the world, resentment, and hometown love, strongly reflecting the feelings of the Korean people.
