Born: April 10, 1892, Jerzytsby, Posen Died December 20, 1965. Mainz, Germany. Anthropologist. Professor of Anthropology at the University of Breslau and the University of Mainz. Conducted anthropological surveys in India, China, Indochina, and other places. In 1933, he published Rassenkunde und Rassengeschichte der Menschheit (Ethnology and History of the Races), in which he divided humanity into three major racial groups based on skin color: white, black, and yellow, and placed 36 races under them based on region. He further divided these races into main races, subraces, special types, and intermediate types, completing a well-organized classification table. Although it is somewhat overly systematic, it is still used as the most comprehensive classification table of humanity.
