Middle America

...The area is about 42 million km2, of which about 24 million km2 is North America and about 18 million km2 is South America. The area from Guatemala to Panama is generally called Central America, and Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean Islands are sometimes called Middle America. From a cultural history perspective, it is sometimes divided into Anglo-America, north of the United States, where the cultural traditions of the Anglo-Saxon peoples are strong, and Latin America, south of Mexico, where the traditions of Spain and Portugal are strong.
