Kyotaro Kimura

Japanese: 木村京太郎 - きむらきょうたろう

1902-1988 A Buraku liberation activist from the Taisho to Showa periods.
Born on June 19, 1902. In 1922, he participated in the Suiheisha movement, and became the first person to be arrested in Nara Prefecture for denouncing discrimination at an elementary school. He was arrested in the Fukuoka Regiment Discrimination Case and received a total of eight years in prison. In 1948, he founded the Buraku Liberation and Buraku Problem Research Institute, serving as its permanent director. He passed away on June 11, 1988. He was 85 years old. He was from Nara Prefecture.

明治35年6月19日生まれ。大正11年水平社運動に参加,奈良県下の小学校の差別を糾弾して初の逮捕者となる。福岡連隊差別事件などで逮捕され,懲役刑通算8年。昭和23年部落問題研究所を創設,常任理事をつとめた。昭和63年6月11日死去。85歳。奈良県出身。
