A mountain of granite rocks in northern Slovakia. It is the main peak of the Vysoké Tatry mountain range (Tatry mountain range) in the Western Carpathian Mountains that straddle the border with Poland. At 2,663 meters above sea level, it is the highest peak in the country. It is part of a national park. During the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it was called Franz Josef Peak, between the two world wars it was called Legion Peak, and for a time after World War II it was also called Stalin Peak.
