British chemist. After studying at Imperial College London, he participated in the Canadian nuclear program during World War II (1943-1946). He then conducted research at the University of California, Berkeley, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Harvard University, before returning to Imperial College in 1956 to teach inorganic chemistry. He studied isotopes in the 1940s, but began researching transition metal complexes around 1950. He proposed a sandwich structure for ferrocene (bis(cyclopentadienyl)iron(II)), which was synthesized around this time, and synthesized a compound with this structure. In 1965, he discovered the Wilkinson complex [Rh Ⅰ Cl(P(C 6 H 5 ) 3 )]. For his research into organometallic chemistry, he shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry with EO Fischer in 1973. His famous inorganic chemistry textbook, Advanced Inorganic Chemistry (1962), which he co-wrote with FA Cotton, is well known. Fischer(フィッシャー)とともにノーベル化学賞を受賞.かれがF.A.
