The name of the northeastern region of the island of Ireland. Ancient name Ullr. Originating from one of the five tribal kingdoms of early medieval Ireland. Today, most of it is in Northern Ireland, and some are part of Ireland. The Gaelic nations were separated from each other from ancient times, but after the conquest by John de Courcy, a servant of Henry II, in 1177, many immigrants from England came to the area, and after the surrender of Hugh O'Neill in 1603, Presbyterian Protestants immigrated from Scotland and oppressed the natives. During the Glorious Revolution, Catholic rebellions occurred mainly in this area, but the conquest by William III established the Church of England. It differs from other parts of Ireland in the relatively large number of Protestants, the development of the linen industry, and the stability of the position of tenant farmers due to the Ulster Custom. In the late 18th century, the Anglican landowners formed the Orange Order, a Protestant organization, to oppose the Catholic South. They vehemently resisted the Irish Home Rule bills of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, claiming that it was "Catholic rule". After the Government of Ireland Act of 1920, the six counties of Ulster separated from the South to form Northern Ireland, gaining autonomy, and together with the United Kingdom, they constitute the United Kingdom. In order to maintain the power of the Protestant ruling class, the civil rights of Catholic residents had been suppressed, and from around 1968, a radical movement was launched calling for the restoration of civil rights and the unification of Northern and Southern Ireland. Fierce fighting continued until the 1980s, but a peace agreement was reached in the 1990s (see Northern Ireland conflict). Today, Ireland consists of three counties: Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan. The UK originally consisted of six counties: Armagh, Antrim, Down, Tyrone, Fermanagh and Londonderry, but in 1973 it was divided into 26 districts.

A long, box-shaped coat for men and women. It is usually double-breasted with a belt and a tailored collar. It got its name from the fact that it was originally made from fabric from the Ulster region of Ireland.
