Keicho earthquake

Japanese: 慶長地震 - けいちょうじしん
Keicho earthquake
On the 13th of July in the leap year of the first year of the Keicho era ( 1596 ), a major earthquake struck the Yamashiro, Settsu, and Izumi areas. Aftershocks continued for a month, and many buildings collapsed, including the Great Buddha of Hokoji Temple and the castle tower of Fushimi Castle.
