Geostrophic wind

The pressure difference should be eliminated immediately if the air moves due to the pressure gradient force, but the pattern of pressure distribution does not change suddenly and the wind blows relatively steadily because the wind does not cross the isobars, but blows almost parallel to them in a state of equilibrium. This state of equilibrium is brought about by the action of the Coriolis force in addition to the pressure gradient force, as shown in Figure 2.
