Keicho Kenmonshu - The Keicho Era
A record of the observations made in the early Edo period. Written by Miura Joshin. Published in 1614 (Keicho 19). 10 volumes. Joshin was a samurai who served the Hojo clan, but moved to Edo to become a merchant. He wrote about the Hojo clan, battles, the customs of Edo, and his visits to various provinces, and later published these in separate volumes as "Hojo Godaiki," "Kenbungunsho," "Sozo Monogatari," and "Junrei Monogatari." They are valuable records of the early Edo period. "Sozo Monogatari" in particular contains descriptions of kabuki and Yoshiwara in Edo during the Keicho period. [Noda Hisao]
