Born: December 7, 1870 (Meiji 3) in Tsuruga Died May 24, 1931. Kyoto scholar of Oriental history. Born as the second son of paper manufacturer Kyubei, he graduated from the Chinese classics department of the University of Tokyo in 1896. He then went on to study at the former Third Higher School and Tokyo Higher Normal School, before becoming a professor at Kyoto University in 1909. He aspired to establish a scientific approach to history, forming a positive academic style and raising the international standing of Japanese Oriental history. In 1923, he received the Imperial Academy Prize for "The Journeys of Pu Shougen." He published 110 academic papers. The "Complete Works of Kuwabara Jikzo" is available.
