1863‐1915 German author. Born in Danzig (now Gdansk, Poland) and died in Berlin. Wrote phonetic poems, space novels, and futuristic novels, and pursued another reality permeated by a super-worldly "world spirit" that occurs after the collapse of ordinary reality, becoming a pioneer of Dada and Surrealism. In his later years, he devoted himself to the study of glass architecture, characterized by its transparency and openness, and wrote Glass Architecture (1914), which influenced B. Taut and others. He fought against materialism, militarism, and racism throughout his life. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
