However, around 1874, small-scale wine brewing began in Katsunuma and the surrounding areas, and in 1877, the Dai-Nihon Yamanashi Grape Wine Company (commonly known as Iwaimura Grape Wine Company) was established, sending two employees to study in France, and full-scale wine production began.
