1724‐1805 A Chinese scholar in the mid-Qing Dynasty. His pen name was Xiaolan, and he also called himself Shunfan, and in his later years he went by the name Shiyun. He was born into a distinguished family in Hejian Prefecture, Zhili Province. He was a Jinshi in the 19th year of the Qianlong era (1754). He was an official at the Hanlin government and was a great patron to the scholars who gathered in the capital, such as Dai Zhen and Qian Daxin. In 1768, however, he was exiled to Urumqi (Urumqi) for reporting information to a relative who was accused of a crime. He was pardoned after about two years, and when the Siku Quanshu Guan was opened in 1773, he oversaw the compilation work as the general compiler, and in particular, he wrote the commentary on the bibliography, Siku Quanshu Zongmu Tieyou, on the compiled manuscripts prepared by scholars in various fields.
