Fernando I

Japanese: フェルナンド[1世](英語表記)Fernando I
Fernando I
1380‐1416
The first king of the Aragonese dynasty of Trastámara. Reigned 1412-16. A member of the Castilian royal family, he recaptured Antequera from the Kingdom of Granada while serving as regency for King John II of Castile, and is commonly known as Fernando of Antequera. After the extinction of the monarchy, he was chosen as the heir to the throne by the representatives of the United Kingdom of Aragon, and ascended to the throne. Blessed with the qualities of a king, such as the ability to judge situations, decisiveness, patience, and leadership, he achieved successes in foreign policy, such as suppressing the rebellion in Sicily, but in domestic affairs, his absolutist stance led to fierce conflicts, especially with the Catalan parliament.

Fernando I

1016‐65
First King of Castile. Reigned 1035-65. Second son of King Sancho III of Navarre, he defeated the King of Leon at the Battle of Tamarón (1037) and annexed the country, solidifying the status of the newly formed Kingdom of Castile. In 1054, he defeated his brother, King Garcia III of Navarre at the Battle of Atapuerca, and regained his former territories in the east. After this, he fought a war of restoration against Al-Andalus (Islamic Spain) in what is now Portugal, recolonizing Coimbra and pushing the border back to the Mondego River, which had once been pushed up to the Duero River.
