Glucagon

A peptide hormone. It is found in the pancreas and is a substance that increases blood sugar levels, with the opposite effect to insulin. It is a linear peptide consisting of 29 amino acids, and its blood sugar increase is mainly achieved through the breakdown of glycogen in the liver and gluconeogenesis. It also increases coronary blood flow and myocardial contractility. Due to these effects, it is used to treat hypoglycemia. It is also used in clinical testing. [CAS 9007-92-5]

ペプチドホルモンの一つ．膵臓中に存在し，血糖上昇作用をもつ物質で，インスリンとは反対の作用を示す．アミノ酸29個から構成される直鎖状のペプチドで，血糖上昇作用は主として肝臓におけるグリコーゲンの分解，糖新生作用を介してなされる．また，冠血流増強作用，心筋収縮力増強がみられる．これらの作用により低血糖症の治療に用いられている．一方，臨床検査にも利用されている．[CAS 9007-92-5]
