This large ancient tomb is located in Daisen Town, Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture. It is a keyhole-shaped tomb with a total length of 486m and a diameter of 249m, making it the largest in Japan. It is surrounded by three moats, and there are more than a dozen auxiliary mounds inside and outside the moats. A long-box-shaped stone coffin is placed in a vertical stone chamber, along with a helmet with a visor and short armor. There are also many cylindrical and house-shaped haniwa clay figures. This tomb is officially designated as the Mozu-no-mimi-hara-naka tomb where Emperor Nintoku was buried, but due to a lack of archaeological evidence, it is also called the Daisen Tomb or Daisen Tomb. → Related topics Osaka Prefecture | Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
