His real name was Ernst Wagner. He is one of the most notable cases of mass murder driven by paranoid delusions in the history of world crime. Born to poor farmers in Egglosheim, Germany, he worked hard to earn a degree and became an assistant teacher at an elementary school. At the age of 27, he committed bestiality after drinking alcohol in the village of Mühlhausen, and became convinced that the villagers knew about it and were spreading rumors about it, which led to him feeling hatred and hostility. He later married and had five children, but he continued to feel ridicule and insults from those around him, and his anger toward them led him to hatch a plan to wipe out the village.

本名はエルンスト･ワーグナーErnst Wagner。パラノイアの妄想から大量殺人を犯した世界犯罪史上でも有数の症例。ドイツのエグロスハイムで貧農の子として生まれ，苦学して小学校の助教員になる。27歳のときミュールハウゼンという村で飲酒のあと獣姦を犯し，村人がこれを知ってうわさし合っていると思いこみ，憎悪と敵意をいだくようになる。のちに結婚して5児をもうけるが，なおも周囲の嘲笑や侮辱を感じ，彼らへの憤怒から村の殲滅（せんめつ）計画が芽生える。
