The Fujiwara Northern House Kazan'in School was founded in the late Heian period by Tadanori, the fifth son of Michizane. His son Yoritsune was a master of kemari (traditional Japanese kemari), and is said to be the founder of the Fujiwara family's kemari tradition. The family produced many kemari masters for successive generations, and inherited the Naniwa school. The family died out during the Muromachi period, but at the beginning of the Edo period, a member of the same family, Asukai Munekatsu, revived the Naniwa family, received a stipend of 300 koku, and made kemari his family business. 藤原北家花山院流。平安時代後期,師実の5男忠教が祖。子頼輔は蹴鞠 (けまり) の達人で,藤家蹴鞠の祖といわれた。代々蹴鞠の名手を出し,難波流を継承した。室町時代家が絶えたが,江戸時代初め,同族飛鳥井宗勝が難波家を再興し,家禄 300石を得て蹴鞠を家業とした。明治にいたり子爵となる。
