Born January 11, 1888 in Pottsmouth, Rhode Island.
[Died] December 8, 1954. Asheborough American lawyer. Graduated from Brown and Harvard University, and became a lawyer. In 1919, he served as assistant attorney general for the state of Ohio, and in 1933 as assistant attorney general for the United States. In 1945, he served as chief prosecutor for the United States and chief prosecutor for the Allied Powers at the International Military Tribunal for the Far East. From 1948 to 1949, he was the US representative to the United Nations Commission of Inquiry on Palestine.
