Local Nebula Group

... A group of galaxies in the vicinity of the Milky Way, with a diameter of about 5 million light years. Also called the Local Group. There are about 20 confirmed members, and in order of brightness they are the Andromeda Galaxy M31 (SAb type, visual absolute magnitude -21.1), the Milky Way (Sb or Sbc type, estimated to be -20), the Triangulum spiral galaxy M33 (SAcd type, -18.9), the Large Magellanic Cloud (irregular type, -18.5), and the Small Magellanic Cloud (irregular type, -16.8).
