Lambeth Conference

A conference of Anglican bishops from around the world. It is held every ten years at Lambeth Palace in London, chaired by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The first conference was held in 1867, with 76 bishops invited by Archbishop Charles Thomas Longley (1794-1868). The 13th conference was held in 1998, and was attended by approximately 750 bishops. Church issues are mainly discussed and resolutions are issued. Although it does not have legal authority over the Anglican Churches of each country, it makes a great contribution to the unity of the Anglican Church around the world.

全世界の聖公会主教会議。10年ごとにロンドンのランベスLambeth宮殿においてカンタベリー大主教を議長として開催される。第1回は1867年に大主教ロングリーCharles Thomas Longley（1794―1868）の招聘(しょうへい)の下に76人の主教によって開かれた。最近では、1998年に第13回の会議が開かれ、およそ750人の主教が参加した。おもに教会の問題が協議され、決議を発表する。各国の聖公会に対し法的権威をもつものではないが、世界の聖公会の一致のうえに大きな貢献をしている。
